Most of us been asking this question, how to take care of my leather bag? It seems there are 2 schools of perceptions when we are talking about leather care, the fist type is developing a rich patina and give your leather bag or other leather wares a life of its own; and the other one, preserve it and keep it looks new forever.
For us, we are the more on the first one, so… HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR LEATHER?
This is actually very easy. The answer is: USE IT!
Leather is something that will look better with age. The oil of your hands will work onto the leather, and giving it a natural patina. The leather bag that being kept in that wardrobe will finally become dull and dusty. Rube and handle your leather goods gently with your hands can have same effect as applying natural grease or oil.
Have you ever wonder why is leather becoming stiff after getting wet?
As when the water evaporating into the air, it brings out the moisture of the leather itself. The biggest threat to your leather ware is being dehydrated, if leather is dying out or scratched. You can apply some leather conditioner or oil, rubbing it with your finger or cloth until it is getting a little warm. Scratches on leather can be removed by applying leather conditioner and oil as well.
Applying some leather conditioner such as neatsfoot oil may be an additional care to add years for your heavy-duty or outdoor use leather products, for example leather boots and shoes.
Good leather material does not look the exact same after months or years, it changes as you grow and developing a nice patina, which is the unique personality of leather.
