Hand Stitching and Machine Sewing

1. Hand Stitch

Hand stitching is using a single thread and passes on both sides of the material for the entire length of the stitch. Using a single threads and needles at the either end, one needle passes through from one side, and the other one through the same hole from the opposite side.

2. Lock Stitch (Machine Sew)

Sewing machine uses two separate spools of threads, one from the top and one from beneath. This making one thread running along the top and another one along the bottom, which LOCK each other at the point where the needle pierces the material along the line of the stitching.

A product stitched by hand is technically stronger and more durable than machine sewing.
